Attuned to global culture? We're immersed in it.
The Research Triangle Region is a long-time player in the global economy, with homegrown multinationals – like SAS, Quintiles and RTI International – operating offices in hundreds of locations around the world and name-brand foreign-based companies – BASF (Germany), Grifols (Spain), GSK (UK), Novozymes (Denmark) and Lenovo (China) and scores of others – operating significant operations here.
North Carolina is the tenth largest state in the nation for foreign-direct investment, employing more than 206,700 workers in various trades, and companies representing nearly 65 countries. International jobs are a local specialty here.
Our universities and colleges amplify our global footprint. The three major research universities (Duke, N.C. State and UNC-Chapel Hill) are involved in more than 500 formal partnerships with companies and institutions around the world. With hundreds of international faculty members and more than 18,000 foreign students from 100 countries, Duke and UNC have long ranked among the “most internationalized” campuses in the United States.
Global connections offer new ideas, new markets and new talent and expertise. Exports represent significant opportunity.
