That kind of growth caught the attention of Forbes and their staff writer Morgan Brennan; who penned an article about the fastest growing cities in the U.S. In the article, Brennan described Raleigh as a ‘Boomtown’ and touted the corporate heavy hitters like Cisco and First Citizens National bank that call the RTP home.
The Forbes staffer also held an interview with Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce president, Harvey Schmitt; during which she wanted to know the key to the area’s success, innovation and job growth. Schmitt touted the area’s concentration of talent and job growth by telling her: “Our employment numbers now exceed those at the beginning of the recession…We have been able to grow the worker pool by attracting a good deal of the graduates from the local colleges with a great quality of life at an affordable price. In turn, it’s attracted companies in search of talent.”
Numbers on education speak volumes for the Triangle. Not only does the triangle have the largest share of grads in its’ city center; it’s also home to the #1 and #2 Best Educated Cities in North Carolina and America’s #1 Best Value College of 2012, UNC Chapel Hill.
