The Research Triangle Region is home to over 1.5 million people. A generation ago, in 1970, the region was home to 763,254 people. A generation from now, in 2020, the region will be home to over 2.0 million people, larger than the present-day Charlotte, San Antonio, Orlando or New Orleans regions.
