CED Opens the North Carolina Companies to Watch Nomination Process

Durham, N.C. -- CED, the Southeast’s largest entrepreneurial support organization, today announced the opening of nominations for the third annual North Carolina Companies to Watch (NCCTW) awards. Twenty-five companies will be recognized as recipients at an awards ceremony on June 7, 2012, in Raleigh, NC.

North Carolina Companies to Watch recognizes the achievement of second-stage entrepreneurial companies and showcases their contributions to the economy of North Carolina. North Carolina Companies to Watch is presented by CED in partnership with The Edward Lowe Foundation.

Eligible companies must be privately-held, for-profit businesses headquartered in North Carolina. Companies must also employ between 6 and 99 employees on a full-time equivalent basis and have reached annual revenues between $750,000 and $50 million in 2011. Companies that have received this award in the past are not eligible.

Additionally, the strongest nominees will demonstrate the intent and capacity to grow based on leadership, competitive advantage, or sustainable employee or revenue growth. Nominations will be accepted through February 27, 2012—individuals may nominate companies by completing this online form.

“We are very pleased this year to partner with nonprofit and economic development organizations to identify these fast-growing companies,” said Joan Siefert Rose, CED president. “There are some great stories to tell from across North Carolina, and we expect to honor companies representing a wide geographic region.”

Last year’s 25 NCCTW award recipients collectively grew revenue by an annual rate of 32 percent from 2007-2010 and added jobs at an annual rate of 36 percent during the same period. A list of last year’s award recipients is available online at http://www.cednc.org/ncctw.
