Chatham County Manufacturer Receives Grants for Energy-saving Projects
Chatham County, N.C. -- Performance Fibers, a manufacturing facility in Moncure, N.C. has received a $200,000 grant from the North Carolina Energy Office.
The Chatham County company manufactures industrial polyester fibers for automotive and commercial vehicle tire producers, including Bridgestone/Firestone.
The grant will partially fund a new low pressure air compressor that is expected to save the company up to $22,000 a month in energy expenses.
The Moncure facility also is working to upgrade its high pressure air compressors, a change that will save up to $50,000 in monthly energy costs. The projects are expected to be completed in November 2011.
