News: Computer Services Company to Hire 1,500

Research Triangle Region, N.C. -- Xerox subsidiary Affiliated Computer Services, which operates call centers for corporate customers around the globe, has announced that it is hiring 1,500 workers for permanent and temporary positions in the Research Triangle Region.

An estimated 300 to 400 of the job openings are permanent, while the remainder are for temporary positions that typically last three to six months, said Jay Hinckley, vice president in ACS's Cary office.

ACS, which already employs 2,300 workers locally and 3,600 statewide, is expanding at its Raleigh and Cary offices to handle new business from existing corporate customers, said Hinkley. The new workers will be providing customer support for consumer electronics and technology companies, as well as supporting companies during their health insurance enrollment periods.
