Registration Under Way for 2012 State of the Research Triangle Region

Research Triangle Region, N.C. – Registration is under way and limited sponsorships remain for the 2012 State of the Research Triangle Region event scheduled for May 24 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center.

Hundreds of business and community leaders and dozens of sponsors already have signed up for the ninth annual economic development forum, hosted by the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) with 2012 naming sponsor Wells Fargo.

“Economic indicators are showing promising signs that our region’s economy continues to strengthen and is outpacing other regions of the state and the nation,” said RTRP President and CEO Charles A. Hayes. “We look forward to sharing what we’re seeing with business and community leaders as well as update them on the results of our collaborative efforts to promote economic growth across all 13 counties.”

The State of the Research Triangle Region is an annual event that reports on the region’s economic health and competitive position and progress on its five-year economic development plan, The Shape of Things to Come. That plan calls for creating 100,000 jobs and boosting employment in all 13 counties between 2009-2014. The region is home to The Research Triangle Park and the 13 counties of Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren.

Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $80 for individuals and $750 for a corporate table of 10. Registration is available online at through May 11. Individual registration will be available at the door the day of the event until seats fill.

Event check-in will begin at 7 a.m. Breakfast will be served and the program will begin at 8 a.m., with adjournment at 10 a.m.
