State of Research Triangle Region Event Registration to Open April 7
Sponsorships are still available for the region’s annual networking event
Research Triangle Region, N.C. (April 3, 2014) – The Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) will once again host for the 11th straight year the 2014 "State of the Region" event on May 22 at the Sheraton Imperial in Durham. The Partnership today announced registration for the flagship event opens on April 7. Key industry and business leaders will gather to examine the latest data for why the Research Triangle is one of the leading regions in the world for technology, innovation, research, talent and academia. One competitive advantage, key in attracting and growing businesses, is the region’s well-educated workforce. More than 44 percent of the regional population had a college degree in 2012, which is 21 percent higher than the national average and 25 percent higher than the state as a whole.
The Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), along with presenting sponsors PNC and the Research Triangle Foundation will host the event, which attracts hundreds of business and community leaders. This year the focus will be on the impact of higher education on the Triangle's economic growth and business trends. Registration will be accessible through the RTRP website, http://www.researchtriangle.org/2014SOR. Sponsorships at various levels are also still available but are expected to sell quickly.
“Campbell University is excited to support this year’s event as it perfectly mirrors the University’s mission to educate North Carolina’s next generation of professionals in fields ranging from business and law to medicine,” said Britt Davis, vice president for institutional advancement and assistant to the president. “In our view, RTRP’s selection of higher education as this year’s event theme underscores the growing importance of having a well-trained work force in the Research Triangle Region when North Carolina competes for corporate relocation and expansion investments. It is a competitive differentiator.”
Steve Stroud, chairman of NAI Carolantic Realty, echoed this sentiment as well. “As a direct beneficiary of strong economic growth, we think it is important to support the efforts of RTRP and others in the region as they work to attract and expand corporate investment, as well as, raise awareness about the importance of having strong education assets within the region. Proximity to dynamic economic ecosystems and access to world-class education at all levels are very important to our customers.”
Other businesses and organizations signing on as sponsors of the State of the Region event include: Wells Fargo, Duke Energy, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s EDGE program, Biogen Idec, ElectriCities of North Carolina, and Siemens.
