Triangle Regional Film Commission Reports $4 Million in Production-related Spending in 2011

Research Triangle Region, N.C. -- Research Triangle Region spending from movie production totaled nearly $4 million in 2011, the Triangle Regional Film Commission reports.

It is one of many aspects of an “exciting and encouraging year,” the commission said in its year-end message to partners, friends and supporters.

The commission worked diligently to recruit production to shoot in the region and create an appealing atmosphere for producers.

Arthur Newman, Golf Pro filmed for a week, posting more than $500,000 in production-related spending. The commission worked closely with producers to recruit them to the region and led them on several location scouts.

Location listings in Reelscout climbed from 166 in January to more than 700 in December and included more than 7,000 images. Reelscout is an online listing service for finding and promoting film locations.

Signs are good that promotion undertaken in 2011 will pay off in 2012, with several producers showing strong interest in shooting in the region.

The Triangle Regional Film Commission promotes the region as a location for movie, television, and new media production. For more information, visit or call (919) 682-2222.
