Entrepreneurs Discuss Offshore Outsourcing Challenges and Opportunities

CED Hosts Dec. 15 Program at Duke University's Newly Opened
Fitzpatrick Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering, Medicine and Applied Science

Research Triangle Park, NC - The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is presenting its December Technology Forum on a topic affecting more and more technology-based entrepreneurial companies - offshore outsourcing. CED's December Technology Forum, "Best Practices in Offshore Outsourcing," will be held Dec. 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Duke University's new Fitzpatrick Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering, Medicine and Applied Sciences - a $97 million complex that is part of the Pratt School of Engineering.

Recent studies show that offshore outsourcing will have a significant impact on technology companies in the future. Approximately 25 percent of U.S. spending on application development, integration and management services could go to offshore providers by 2008, up from 11 percent in 2003, predicts research firm IDC. In addition, researchers at Garners expect offshore IT services spending to reach $50 billion by 2007.

CED President Monica Doss said the December Tech Forum will address these national and global trends with a balanced discussion of best practices, opportunities and threats with offshore outsourcing.

"Whether you're for or against it, most would agree that offshore outsourcing is clearly affecting the way many technology-based entrepreneurial companies do business," said Doss. "CED's December Technology Forum will arm entrepreneurs with the tools to face these global trends of today and tomorrow. My hope is that there will be lively and open audience participation at the Tech Forum, and that we will gain new insights on this challenging topic."

Panelists at CED's December Tech Forum include the following:
  • Michael A. Eason, VP of Development, Peopleclick
  • Rich Cronheim, Co-founder, Relativity Technologies
  • Renat Khasanshyn, Chief Executive Officer, ALTOROS Systems
  • Tim Reger, IBM
  • Peter Dolina, Vice President, International IT Services
  • Bud Whitmeyer (moderator), Research Triangle Ventures

Pre-registration for the December Tech Forum closes on Thursday, Dec. 9. On-site registration will be available at Duke's Fitzpatrick Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering, Medicine and Applied Sciences.
