Furniture Company Moves from Miami to Moore County
ABERDEEN, N.C. - Pinnacle Furnishings, Inc. has purchased the former Doxey Furniture building on Highway 211 East in Aberdeen and will be relocating its operations from Miami, Fla., in January.
Pinnacle, a specialty manufacturer of high-end casino, hotel and restaurant furniture, will occupy the front half of the building, about 85,000 square feet of the total 185,448 square feet. It plans to find a business to lease the remaining square footage.
Pinnacle will bring some $500,000 in equipment and expects to employ 30 to 50 workers immediately.
As part of this project, Pinnacle has agreed for the property to be annexed by the Town of Aberdeen.
Pinnacle president Jack Berggren said the primary reason for the move is that it was becoming prohibitive for the company to continue doing business in Miami. Mr. Berggren also has family in the area, who encouraged him to relocate here. The quality of life and the idea of raising his family here appealed to him.
"We are thrilled to have Pinnacle Furnishings move into the Doxey building in Aberdeen," said Ray Ogden, Executive Director of Partners in Progress. "Their move puts an older industrial building - that could have easily remained vacant for years - back on the tax rolls, and creates manufacturing jobs to replace some of the ones lost when Doxey Furniture had to close its doors."
Ogden added: "This is the perfect example of how family and friends in Moore County can influence a business to come to the area. Word of mouth is a powerful recruitment tool."
