Regional leaders discuss economic growth and global competitiveness
on weekly regional economic development radio show
Research Triangle Region, N.C. - Leaders from Franklin, Granville, Harnett and Vance counties join Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) President and CEO Charles Hayes and radio host Dean Linke Wednesdays in January to discuss economic development issues affecting the region.
January shows and guests are:
- Jan. 5 - "Marketing the Research Triangle Region: A Five-Year Plan," with guest Ronnie Goswick, director of the Franklin County Economic Development Commission and president of RTRP's Regional Advisory Committee, which includes economic developers from all 13 counties in the Research Triangle Region.
- Jan. 12 - "Harnett County Economic Growth." with guests Lee Anne Nance, director, Harnett County Economic Development Commission, and Johnson Tilghman, Harnett County businessman and commission chair.
- Jan. 19 - "Legislative Outlook for 2005 Session," with guest N.C. Representative Jim Crawford, who represents Granville and Vance counties in the state legislature and chairs the Appropriations Committee.
- Jan. 26 - "CertainTeed Expands in Granville County" with guest Leon Turner, executive director, Granville County Economic Development.
RTRP's weekly radio show, "Staying on Top: Winning the Job Wars of the Future," airs Wednesdays at 7:24 a.m. on State Government Radio AM 57.
The weekly show focuses on the region's economic development strategy of the same name. Staying on Top is a $5 million, five-year effort to create 100,000 jobs in the region and boost employment in each of the region's 13 counties, both urban and rural. RTRP is coordinating the regional effort that involves more than 40 "institutional partners" in the region representing business, government, academia and the nonprofit sector.
RTRP is a public/private partnership that promotes economic development for the 13-county region of North Carolina comprising Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren counties.
