Research Triangle Region's technology promoted
on 30,000 air flights in May
Research Triangle Region, N.C. - TV crews from Sky In-Flight TV spent March 25 filming technology features in the Research Triangle Region for a 30-minute episode to air on 30,000 long-distance air flights in May.
The $30,000 promotion is part of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership's (RTRP) global branding strategy to position the region as an ideal location for investment in technology innovation. Global branding is a key component of "Staying on Top," the five-year, $5 million initiative to create 100,000 jobs in the Research Triangle Region and boost employment in all 13 counties (see www.researchtriangleregion.org to learn more).
"Our target audience of business leaders and others who make decisions on business location and investment spend a lot of time on long-distance and international flights," said RTRP President and CEO Charles A. Hayes. "Our goal is to reinforce this region's image as a global technology region with these influential travelers."
Sky In-Flight TV creates custom programming for presentation on flights of United Airlines, US Airways, America West and Northwest Airlines. One of its programs, "Bunting's Window to Technology," is the longest-running in-flight TV show. It will reach more than 2 million traveling viewers when the regional segment airs in May.
The episode will feature shots of technology businesses and locations in the region and an interview with RTRP Board Chair Southgate Jones III on what makes the region ideal for technology innovation and business investment.
RTRP focuses its global recruiting on 10 areas in which it is a world leader in R&D and that fit mix of rural and urban assets. The 10 areas are: pharmaceuticals, biological agents and infectious diseases, agricultural biotechnology, pervasive computing, advanced medical care, analytical instruments, nanoscale technologies, informatics, vehicle component parts, and logistics and distribution.
RTRP is a public/private partnership that promotes economic development for the 13-county region of North Carolina comprising Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren counties.
