Church tapped to lead Warren County economic development
WARRENTON, N.C. - John C. Church Jr. has been named executive director of the Warren County Economic Development Commission and to a seat on the board of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP).
With nearly five years experience as manager of economic development and marketing for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and more than 20 with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Church will leverage his expertise and regional contacts to help bring new jobs and investment to the county. Church replaces Allen Kimball, who retired as executive director in May.
Church will focus particularly on the Kerr-Tar Hub project, a regional initiative to create an advanced technology park to attract employers and provide jobs for the Kerr Tar Region of Warren, Franklin, Granville, Person and Vance counties.
"This is the best opportunity we have had in years to make some real headway in the economy of this region," said Roland Beauchaine, chairman of the Warren County EDC. "John has had years of experience with the Department of Commerce and with the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and knows the players in the Hub effort. It was key to us to get someone who could hit the ground running. I believe we are very fortunate to have him."
Church also joins the board of RTRP, a public-private partnership that coordinates economic development for the 13-county region of Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren.
Located in north-central North Carolina on the central Atlantic Seaboard, Warren County is one of the 13 counties in the Research Triangle Region. The county is located within 700 miles of more than 150 million U.S. and Canadian customers, with rail and interstate highway links.
