Selected Recent Investments

AlphaVax plans a $4.5 million expansion of its clinical trial manufacturing plant in Durham County that will create 20 new jobs. It is among $448 million in investment and 1,216 new jobs announced in the region during the first quarter of 2004.

Regional Accolades

The Triangle metropolitan area ranks third after San Diego and Boston in a study of leading U.S. centers for biotechnology and life sciences. It is one of many recent accolades for the Research Triangle Region.

Recruiting Schedule

Economic developers travel to Vaxjo, Sweden in August for the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce's Entrepreneurial Days event, designed to help companies become successful in U.S. and Swedish markets. It is part of a schedule of trips designed to recruit investment to the region.

Regional Events

Business Leader magazine hosts its networking event, "The Gathering," Aug. 25 in Raleigh. It is among the August events planned for regional business people and entrepreneurs.
