The State of the Region will highlight our strengths, and dissect the challenges we need to address to make our region more competitive. In addition, at this year’s event we will hear from speakers and panelist who will highlight how we can leverage the existing and naturally occurring influx of life science companies to facilitate economic growth and justify infrastructural improvements to prepare for more diversified expansion in the future. Cindy Whitehead

CEO + Founder, The Pink Ceiling

Cindy Whitehead is the entrepreneur who created The Pink Ceiling, an investment firm, incubator and consulting enterprise with a mission to mentor, invest in, launch and build other women-led or focused businesses. Prior to The Pink Ceiling, she co-founded and served as the last CEO of Sprout Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in the Research Triangle region, which created the first FDA-approved drug for low sexual desire in women. Cindy will share first- hand insight on what makes the Research Triangle region unique for life science companies looking to locate their headquarters and facilities in an area that allows for growth and expansion. Additionally, she will address the challenges the region faces in workforce development and how it can better prepare a diverse talent pool for incoming companies.
