Experts say more people are turning to online shopping during the pandemic, and the Amazon Distribution Center on Jones Sausage Road in Garner is already seeing orders ramp up for the holidays.
Amazon said it is hoping to hire many seasonal workers. While anyone can apply, the company prioritizes hiring veterans and their spouses. Positions at the new fulfillment center in Garner include working alongside Amazon robotics.
In October, Amazon said it is looking to hire 100,000 workers for the holiday season.
“These new seasonal employees will help pick, pack, and ship customer orders this holiday season,” Amazon announced in a blog post. “Amazon offers jobs for people of all backgrounds and skill levels. These new seasonal jobs offer opportunities for pay incentives, benefits, and a path to a longer-term career, or can simply provide extra income and flexibility during the holiday season.”
Amazon offers its workers a $15 minimum wage, and full-time regular jobs come with comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance and a 401K with 50 percent company match, according to the website.
