Apple making big impact in the Triangle before it even arrives

Apple’s plan to build a billion-dollar campus at Research Triangle Park has been a big deal for the Triangle ever since it was announced earlier this year.

We should begin to see changes on the site of Apple’s future campus at RTP soon – but until then, their presence is already being felt in the Triangle.

Rick Smith with WRAL TechWire helped to break the news of Apple’s plans earlier this year. He also predicted that the tech giant’s announcement would bring interest from a lot of other companies as well.

“Hirings, expansions, growth,” said Smith. “Of course, Apple is a contributor to that.”

People are already being hired in our area, and Apple has leased temporary office space in Cary.

Apple is already showing up in other places in the community, as well. The Boys and Girls Club of Wake County will be part of a program by Apple to teach kids to code.

“We knew that Apple was coming and hoped that something exciting might come out of that,” said John Welch, VP of resource development and marketing for the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County.

Another way Apple could already be life-changing in the Triangle: They’ve promised to invest millions of dollars in programs around the state.

They also promised to create thousands of jobs starting in 2023.
