Building product manufacturer to invest $118M in expansion at Oxford, to add jobs

A manufacturer of building products, CertainTeed, will expand in Granville County.

The company will invest $118.8 million in an existing roofing shingle manufacturing facility, located in Oxford.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced the expansion on Wednesday, noting in a statement that the expansion project is “a great indicator of North Carolina’s manufacturing economy.”

CertainTeed is a subsidiary of global company Saint-Gobain.  The expansion project will add some 225,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The company will add 37 jobs with average wages of nearly $67,000, which the state of North Carolina estimated could create annual payroll impact of more than $2.4 million in the region.

A performance-based grant of $125,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help the expansion.
