Consulting firm picks Durham for office hub over New York, San Francisco

A health care consultancy out of Philadelphia has tapped Durham over other cities, such as New York and Nashville, for a new hub office.

Vynamic, which is already hiring in the Triangle, picked the region for its growing status in the sector, says CEO Jeff Dill.

“We’re on the path to continue to expand geographically, and really we’re focused on health care hubs,” he says.

Right now, the company has offices in Philadelphia, Boston and London. And when it was on the hunt for sites, the priority was on communities “bustling from a health care innovation perspective.”

The Triangle emerged at the top of the list, though other spots in New York, Nashville, San Francisco and San Diego were considered. The clincher was the region’s recruitment potential, Dill says.

“We really liked the vibe of Durham,” he says, noting that two employees already live in the region and will help open the new office.

For now, Vynamic is opening up shop at WeWork in Durham, with plans to get bigger as opportunities increase. Already, the company serves “a number of clients” in the region, he says.

Over the next year, the company could hire more than 10 in the Triangle, Dill says – though he cautions the hiring plans are still being discussed.

“We’re looking to grow our Durham team in a healthy way over the next year,” Dill says. “We’re interested in talking to anyone who could be a good fit.”

In the meantime, transformation happening throughout the health care industry continues to drive the business, Dill says.

Dill, an Accenture veteran, explains Vynamic’s services as falling in three different buckets: actionable strategy (including where clients look to launch new products), operational intelligence (such as company-wide technology transformation projects) and healthy culture (where Vynamic helps a company “curate their own culture.”

And Dill says the business plan has been working. When he joined the company in 2005, the firm had just four employees. Today, it’s 165 across four locations.
