High-tech job openings surge across NC with 12,000 new openings in January

RALEIGH — There were over 12,200 new high-tech jobs posted across North Carolina in January, according a recent report released from the NC Technology Association.

That brings the total of IT job offerings to 32, 107, representing a “huge surge in the demand for technology talent to start 2020” and  a 13.6 percent jump from the same period last year.

The majority of these new jobs are permanent, full-time positions.

Finance and insurance, health care and social assistance, and administrative and support industries all saw their technology job needs grow by more than 40 percent compared to last year, the report noted.

Job demand also remains strong in the Triangle, with  7,973 new jobs in Raleigh, a 15.6 percent spike, and 3,957 jobs in Durham/Chapel Hill, a 5 percent jump from 2019.

Software Developers are in the most demand with 8,526 postings (+27.6%) followed by Information Security Analysts with 2,534 postings (+28.4%).
