On best-performing U.S. labor market report, Raleigh ranks #4

A new report from ThinkWhy that ranked labor markets across the United States for performance during the month of July 2021 lists Raleigh as the 4th best-performing labor market, behind Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, and Austin.

“The U.S. labor market is undergoing a major transition with several factors at play, including employees switching jobs, the COVID-19 Delta variant, increasing wage demands and the delay in moving candidates through the recruiting and hiring process”, said Jay Denton, chief analyst at ThinkWhy, in a statement.

Denver, Boise, and Nashville follow Raleigh on the list of best-performing regions for talent.

Raleigh ranked in the fourth spot due in part to the region’s educational attainment and job growth, the report noted.

According to the report, eight of the top ten best-performing labor markets also rank in the top 25 regions for net migration, indicating that people are choosing to move to these areas.

The rankings report was issued soon after the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shared employment numbers for July 2021.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. employment rose by 943,000 in July.  The unemployment rate declined by 0.5% and is now 5.4%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Notable job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, in local government education, and in professional and business services,” a media release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics read.
