Former Quintiles exec talks new company launch, choosing Durham for HQ
Udgivelsesdato:A newly launched clinical trials organization has chosen Durham for its headquarters, in part because of its booming biopharma industry.
Denne uge, Velocity Clinical Research, which hopes to capitalize by acquiring research sites for clinical trials throughout the United States, launched in Washington, Florida and Ohio. The company is registered in the state of Delaware as VCR Holdings LLC.
For its headquarters, though, President and CEO Paul Evans said Durham felt like the best choice, despite its current assets elsewhere.
“North Carolina has got a lot going for it, given our industry and what we’re trying to do,” he said. “It’s a very attractive region.”
Evans is no stranger to the Triangle-area. A former Quintiles executive (now called Iqvia), he said the company believes the thriving growth of industry is the perfect opportunity for eliciting clients.
VCR’s office is currently located in a WeWork coworking facility in the One City Center in Durham. Evans said as the company expands, it will look to recruit more employees and expand its Durham presence.
