NC grocer plots new store for major Pittsboro development

Udgivelsesdato:

A Triad grocer has plans to bring a new store to a major mixed-use development currently underway in Pittsboro.

Winston-Salem-based Lowes Foods in April filed plans with the town of Pittsboro for the development of Northwood Lowes Foods. The project calls for a grocery store, retail space and a gas station at the ongoing Mosaic development.

Plans filed with the town show a 50,000-square-foot grocery store and 8,400 square feet of retail space – not including the gas station. The project is situated on seven acres off Hwy. 15/501 by U.S. 64, north of Pittsboro. The site is flanked to the east, south and west by lots designated for future development, though the filings don’t describe exactly what that may bring.

Representatives for Lowes Foods and parent company Alex Lee could not be reached for comment.

The developer on the project is The Crown Companies of Dobson. The property owner is Preston Development Company, the owner and developer of Chatham Park, the 7,100-acre mixed-use project into which Mosaic will serve as a commercial gateway.

Konstruktion on phase 1 for Mosaic began last fall.

Alt i alt vil Mosaic indeholde:

  • 200.000+ kvadratfod af lokale og regionale butikker, restauranter og tjenester, herunder et mikrobryggeri samt kok-drevet og hurtig afslappet spisning;
  • Et flagskibshotel med 114 nøgler plus 164 "urban-burb" lejlighedsboliger;
  • 88.000 kvadratmeter teknisk og kreativt kontorlokale;
  • 10.000 kvadratmeter multi-generations uddannelsesrum;

Commercial tenants officially announced for Mosaic include Town Hall Burger + Beer and People’s Coffee as well as an Aveda Day Spa and Salon and UNC Urgent Care.

Chatham Park, once completed, is expected to include 22,000 residences along with 22 million square feet of office, research, retail, educational and community space. The first homes in the community are scheduled to be ready this fall.

Lowes Foods has nearly 100 stores across North Carolina and South Carolina, including 15 in the Triangle.
