Beginning in June, people will be able to fly from the Triangle directly to Germany.

On Tuesday Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority CEO Michael Landguth announced RDU’s newest airline, the German airline Lufthansa.

Beginning June 6, 2024, RDU will offer nonstop flights between Raleigh and Frankfurt.

The flights will operate five days a week on an A330-300 aircraft. The planes will have 255 total seats.

Lufthansa will be RDU’s 16th airline and Frankfurt is the airport’s eighth international destination.

Landguth said RDU has introduced 20 new destinations and 45 new non-stop flights since February.

The trip to Frankfurt is the 46th flight added this year.

The Lufthansa flight is expected to have an economic impact of approximately $3.3 billion in North Carolina over the next 25 years.
